Ben Varnson was appointed to the Nelson County Water Resource District in 1974. He also serves as a Director of the Red River Joint Water Resource District, The Red River Basin Commission and The Red River Retention Authority. He has served as Director and Chairman of the Devils Lake Basin Joint Water Resource Board and is presently serving as Director and Chairman of the Upper Sheyenne River Joint Water Resource Board. Ben served as a Director on the North Dakota Water Users Association for many years and has been a Director of the North Dakota Water Resource Districts Association. Ben also serves on the Devils Lake Outlet Advisory Committee.
Ben is member of Grace Lutheran Church in Lakota and has served as Chairman and Elder for many years. Ben has recently retired from farming, which he began while in high school. He is married, has 3 children, six grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Bill represents Pierce County. He has served on the water board for 21 years.
He resides in North of Harvey. He is married, has 4 children and 6 grandchildren.
Fun Fact: Bill represented North Dakota in 1993 in Washington, DC Presidential Inaugural Parade.
Kevin represents Sheridan County. He has served on the board for 13 years. He resides near Denhoff. He is a rancher/farmer, and truck driver.
Tor represents Steele County. He enjoys serving on the water board to better understand the water laws & pass those laws onto the public.
Tor resides near Finley. He has a wife and has 3 children.
Fun Fact: Tor is an adventure seeker. He has jumped out airplanes (on purpose) and is a scuba diver.
Dennis represents Stutsman County. He has served on the water board for 10 years. He has concerns about water projects and water quality which is why he serves on the board. Dennis resides near Woodworth. He enjoys watching his grandchildren grow up.
Tasha started in her position as Secretary/Treasurer in 2021.
